OREGON, BY REQUEST!

Well, my Dutch friend Maarten sent me an email, saying, 'Do a post on Oregon! We never hear anything about it in Europe. And they have great relishes!'

Maarten, WE never hear anything about them either! But I'll still do a post, because it is actually a beautiful state, one I hope to visit some day. And if any Oregonians are visiting, feel free to share any good links you care to in the 'comments'!

First off, did he mean THIS relish? Or, did he want to can his own? (that one from the Nolls, who have a whole bunch of nice Oregonian pages up!)

And since we're on food, we can't forget the Dungeness Crab..

Oregon is noted for wilderness and natural beauty. Volcanos, wildflowers, and much, much more..

It is the home of some Native Americans who still live as their ancestors did, in balance with their natural surroundings..

The Oregon Trail played a substantial role in the settlement of the west..

Ken Kesey, though born in Colorado, is most associated with Oregon, the setting for his greatest novels..

Portland, seen in this PBase Gallery, boasts a world class art museum

And, to catch up on current news and happenings in Oregon, check out 'Oregon Live'

To be just without being mad (and the madder you get the madder you get), to be peaceful without being stupid, to be interested without being compulsive, to be happy without being hysterical. . . . smoke grass.
Ken Kesey
